Yuma’s local electricity company
switched to their new project to change the fossil fuel electricity method to
photovoltaic solar panels. The plan of the State of Arizona helped California
and other southwestern states’ homeowners to save a lot of money by paying low
electric bills. The 290-megawatts photovoltaic solar panel project starts from
Yuma to Phoenix. Arizonians agreed on the Californians to give them a cheaper
rate of electricity. The photovoltaic solar energy is owned by the NRG Energy
(a locally owned electric company in Arizona). The Yuma Solar Energy is a
cadmium-telluride that receives power from sunlight, which then that converts
into an electric source. These can supply 230,000 homes in Yuma. It consists of
2,400 acres of solar panels that go from Yuma to Phoenix. Yuma is part of the
Sonoran Desert, so they have plenty of solar energy, which is great for the photovoltaic
solar power, as well as Arizonian and the southwestern regions. This solar
energy tracks down the sunlight and traces the sun’s direction. There are
77,000 solar panels placed in Yuma all the way through Phoenix, Arizona.
Aqua Caliente Company spent
millions of dollars to provide solar panels in the southwestern region of the
U.S. This renewable energy helped the state of Arizona with sustainability
ideas. All of the provinces in Arizona including Yuma joined the project to
replace the fossil fuel-based electricity as they switched to the photovoltaic
solar panels. It is a smart idea which saves so much money by not paying high
electric bills, and it is cleaner for the environment. The solar panels project
became the project for the Federal Government to help other states in the southwestern
region in the U.S. This project began in 2009 for the replacement of the
unhealthy old-fashioned way of using fossil fuel-based electric source. This
renewable energy has decreased the air pollution of Yuma through Phoenix,
Arizona. Agua Caliente is supported by the Federal Government which has
provided to raise funding to make this project happen. Entire houses and buildings
in Yuma, now generate electricity by using photovoltaic solar energy.
Since hundreds of years ago, Yuma’s
Colorado River played an important role for the Indian tribes in Yuma. The
Indian tribes used the Colorado River for agriculture, fishing, drinking,
bathing, and traveling by boat. In the 20th century in Yuma, there were many
constructions made in the Colorado River by the Americans. The main project was
to make the Americans travel easier and get sources of water for farming. The Yuma
irrigation project’s main purposes are to build the Laguna Dam, Yuma Main
Canal, Ocean to Ocean Bridge, and Colorado River Siphon. This irrigation
project provides water to the Yuma mountains and valleys. Colorado River is the
primary purpose for the agricultural economy to sustain water. Yuma residents live
in the Sonoran Desert area. The Ocean to Ocean Bridge has an underground tunnel
to cross the river. Also, the Gila River is connected with the Colorado River.
Before Yuma’s Irrigation Project, it was too dangerous for the residents to be
in that place. The Colorado River has ten miles opening, so it took ten miles
to cross the river by using boats. The water was a little bit too deep. Yuma’s Irrigation
Project helped many residents not experience flooding anymore.
