Geology of Yuma

Geology played a significant role in Yuma. Yuma is part of the Sonoran Desert that the pre-geology findings were traced millions of years ago. Geologists found many pupfishes. The desert pupfishes only survive in hot water. There are volcanoes in the Sonoran Desert, which cause earthquakes in Yuma. Also, Yuma is not too far from the Pacific Ocean, and flooding and hurricanes affect Yuma. The volcanoes are active, as it sits in the center of Sonoran Desert region. Flooding was documented since the flooding of Yuma in the 1800s that destroyed entire houses and buildings. There are still floodplain marks through the Sonora Desert. There are also many findings of precious mineral-like fossil fuels that existed in Yuma. Geologist also found many signs of Paleozoic shales, Mesozoic fossils, and Cenozoic deposits. Animals and other insects survived in Yuma, and these findings existed millions of years ago.
